Hast thou commanded the morning since thy days; and caused the dayspring to know his place; That it might take hold of the ends of the earth, that the wicked might be shaken out of it?
Job 38:12-13 (KJV)
Job 38:12-13 (KJV) reveals a key to experiencing a productive and victorious day. It shows us that we can command our morning and shake the plans of the enemy out of it. In other words, we can direct how our morning will go and neutralize the opposition to it. Instead of letting the morning unfold haphazardly, we can spend time with God in the morning to get His will for that day.
As I was meditating on those Scriptures, God dropped into my spirit that “Jesus was the greatest commander of the morning.” Afterwards, He took me to Mark 1:35-39 (NIV). In verse 35, it says “Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed.” As Jesus prayed early in the morning, He got instructions from God the Father, and commanded the morning with those instructions to ensure His day went in that direction. When Jesus finished praying, He was focused on what He had to do and was not distracted by anyone else’s agenda. For example, in Mark 1:38 (NIV), when the disciples and everyone else was looking for Him, “Jesus replied, let us go somewhere else – to the nearby villages – so I can preach there also. That is why I have come.”
Daily Jesus was able to stay on track with His assignment because He spent time commanding the morning during His prayer time. Jesus got ahead of the enemy by commanding the morning in prayer. He preprogrammed His day for effectiveness and victory by commanding the morning. We can do that too.
Do not let another day go by without commanding the morning. Shut down or shake out the plans of the enemy from your day. Preprogram it with the promises, favor, grace, mercy, and protection of God. Preprogram your day so that you can take territory back from the enemy and take new territory. Preprogram your day with God’s will to bring Heaven on earth to your life.
The enemy operates in a vacuum. Genesis 1:2 (NIV) lets us know that in the beginning, the earth was without form, and void and darkness covered the world. When something has a void, that is the same as a vacuum being created. It is an emptiness. A vacuum creates an opportunity for darkness to creep in. Do not let your day contain a vacuum or emptiness. Speak over your day to fill it with the Word of God. Leave no room for the enemy in your day. Shut him out of it. That’s what Jesus did. He made sure that He regularly commanded the morning as a part of His prayer time so that as His day unfolded the enemy could not derail His assignment. The enemy tried but his plans were frustrated at every turn. And even when the enemy thought he had succeeded by crucifying the Lord Jesus, Jesus was raised from the dead on the third day.
Commanding the morning works. You can command the morning no matter where you live. You might be live in Africa, Europe, China, or the United States but it does not matter. Commanding the morning will work wherever you are. It allowed Jesus to accomplish a huge amount in just three in a half years. He selected ten disciples, trained them, preached, and demonstrated the Kingdom, healed the sick, raised the dead, died to pay the price for man’s sin, etc. He did all that in three and a half years.
If you want to accomplish more in the next three and a half years, command the morning daily. When you continue to command your mornings, you will end up commanding your days. As you keep commanding your mornings, not only will you command your days, but you will also expand that to command your weeks, months, and years. When you keep commanding your morning, those years will turn into decades. And then, when you look back, you will see that through God’s help, those were the most productive years of your life. Begin commanding the morning consistently on a daily basis. Your future depends on it.
